Solar-powered hanging fences are being set up across vulnerable stretches in Chakkittappara panchayat in Kerala’s Kozhikode district to address repeated incursions by wild animals. The measure is aimed at areas where residents have reported frequent raids.
The fencing work is being carried out in Poozhithode, Chempanoda and Alambara, which have seen regular movement of wild elephants, wild boars and monkeys. Local residents have raised concerns over the damage and disruption caused by the animals.
According to the report, the fence installation is under way in these stretches to reduce wildlife entry into human settlements. The current status of the project is that work is being carried out in the identified vulnerable areas.
