West Bengal marked its first government-organised Durga Puja celebration with a mega event at Eden Gardens, drawing attention to the festival’s cultural and religious significance in the state.
Chief Minister said the Durga Puja celebrations will now be conducted according to proper religious traditions, and added that 12,400 more community Durga Pujas are being organised across the state this year.
The event at Eden Gardens comes as preparations for the festive season gather pace in West Bengal. The announcement highlights the scale of community participation expected in this year’s celebrations.
