Karnataka Forest Minister Eshwar Khandre has ordered a crackdown on illegal resorts and homestays operating in and around tiger reserves in the state. He has also sought action to curb violations in eco-sensitive areas.
The minister asked officials to prepare Zonal Master Plans to create awareness among people about the dos and don’ts in eco-sensitive zone, or ESZ, areas. The move is aimed at improving compliance with environmental rules.
Officials have been directed to step up monitoring and enforcement in protected areas. The matter is being pursued as part of efforts to strengthen conservation measures in Karnataka’s tiger reserve regions.
