The Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday criticised Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s account of the INDIA bloc’s meeting with President Droupadi Murmu, calling it politically motivated. The remarks came after Gandhi said he was “shocked” that the President did not “deny” the Opposition’s allegation of “vote theft”.

BJP leader Sudhanshu Trivedi said Rahul Gandhi had twisted what had happened during the meeting. He said the Congress leader’s comments were not an accurate reflection of the discussions held with the President.

The exchange comes amid sharp political sparring between the BJP and the Congress-led Opposition over the “vote theft” allegation. No official response from Rashtrapati Bhavan was mentioned in the input.
