Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said the government is preparing a consultation paper on artificial intelligence within a month, with safety and deepfakes among the key focus areas.

Speaking on AI regulation, Vaishnaw said the government has always maintained that AI and other technologies cannot be regulated by law alone.

He said a “techno-legal solution” is needed and added that stakeholders must be brought on board before any framework is finalised.
