Trinamool Congress MP Samirul Islam has written to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) over the alleged denial of drinking water supply to Jyoti Nagar Colony in Kolkata.
Islam alleged that the water supply to the colony was cut off after the BJP came to power in West Bengal. He said the residents were Muslims and claimed they were not considered part of the BJP’s “so-called vote bank.”
The complaint comes amid a political row over basic civic services in the colony. No official response was mentioned in the input, and the matter remains as alleged.
