The Indian rupee fell 22 paise to 96.57 against the US dollar in the interbank foreign exchange market on the back of the RBI’s rate increase.
The currency opened at 96.37 before losing ground during trading, according to market data.
The rupee was down from its previous close, reflecting pressure in early trade.
