NDA coalition partners in Andhra Pradesh have decided to ensure 34% representation for Backward Classes in the upcoming local body elections, several Ministers said.
According to the Rajiv Ranjan Mishra Commission report, the average reservation comes to 28.18%. To make up the shortfall, the alliance partners will provide additional opportunities through party nominations wherever BC representation falls below 34%.
Ministers said the move is aimed at improving BC participation in local governance and will be implemented by the coalition parties during the election process.
